It would have been Paul Walker's 42nd birthday on September 12th, had he not tragically died in a horrendous car collision on his way to a charity event almost two years ago.

Without a doubt, Paul Walker's death sent ripples through Hollywood, and millions of fans around the world lamented his sudden passing. Because the fact of the matter is, Paul was not only a wonderfully talented actor, but also one of the most active philanthropists in the entertainment business with a heart of solid gold.

On her father's would-be birthday, it was his loving 16-year-old daughter Meadow that brought the most attention to this. Posting the following throwback image to when she was a little girl by her father's side, she graciously announced the creation of The Paul Walker Foundation on his special day:

Meadow wrote:

Reflecting on my father, I found myself reflecting on his passions. His passion for the ocean, his passion for rescuing animals, his passion for helping people and his passion for spontaneous goodwill. I wanted to start this foundation because I want to share that piece of him with the world. I want to share that part of him with others. I am tremendously proud to be launching The (@paulwalkerfdn) on his birthday. I can't think of a better way to celebrate my father. .

Building on Paul's work in the field of marine biology, the foundation will support research and the protection of our oceans in the late actor's name.

A flood of heart-felt messages from Paul's Furious co-stars

Meadow wasn't the only one remembering her father on September 12th, and unsurprisingly a number of his closest friends and co-stars also took to social media to express their love for the late actor and in some cases, their best friend. Let's take some of the emotional words that were said:

1. Vin Diesel

Whilst filming a live video at Universal Studios, Vin Diesel posted this onto his Facebook, saying:

Tomorrow is Paul Walker’s birthday, so we’re going to say, ‘Happy Birthday, Pablo! Happy Birthday, Pablo! We love you, we love you, we love you.

Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter:

3. Ludacris

Luda kept it short and sweet, but no less touching:

4. Michelle Rodriguez

And finally, Michelle took to her Twitter to encourage us all to keep Paul's legacy living on, tweeting her support for the Foundation:

Paul, you may be gone, but you'll never be forgotten.
