So in the best news of the week so far (though it is only Tuesday) Disney have literally just released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming live action version of The Jungle Book. The film is set to star a huge number of A-listers, including Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba and Christopher Walken. Check out the trailer below!

Now onto the breakdown of that creepy, epic trailer!

Bare Necessities?
Bare Necessities?

Here we see several shots of the jungle this all takes place in. This one is particularly interesting because it looks a lot like a river where a well known song takes place!

That's... terrifying.
That's... terrifying.

As Scarlett Johansson's terrifying Kaa voice speaks to Mowgli (presumably for the first time) in the background, we see darker places within the forest. This shot actually could be where Mowgli first meets Kaa.

Circle of life?
Circle of life?

No we haven't switched to the live action Lion King, this is somewhere out of the forest, a place where the animals must live in fear of that creature they are looking at.

That's... also terrifying.
That's... also terrifying.

And there he is! Idris Elba promises to be a terrifying Shere Khan, and I can't wait to hear that voice on that creepy looking tiger.

First meeting!
First meeting!

Here is our first look at the lovable Bagheera, played by Ben Kingsley, he looks here a little more ferocious than we would expect, but I'm sure he is wary of the new being he sees. Yes, I think this may be the first meeting between the two, especially because Mowgli is clearly a baby.

Wandering through the river.
Wandering through the river.

This is just picturesque, that's mostly why I put it in. It could be when Mowgli gets annoyed and goes off on his own, destined to find Kaa or get kidnapped by monkeys.

Flying Monkeys?
Flying Monkeys?

This is interesting, we can see at several points in the trailer that these monkeys kidnap Mowgli and bring him up this cliff to a temple at the top, where King Louie, a huge orangutan in this film (played by Christopher Walken), is waiting. (He ain't gonna be like you!)

BALOO!
BALOO!

Here is the guy we've all been waiting for! Bill Murray to play Baloo is a stroke of genius. He looks fantastic here, and throughout the trailer. While both large and intimidating, there is a friendly nature there. The biggest tease about this trailer is that no-one but Kaa speaks, so it really is up to the imagination to figure out what it will look like when all these animals start talking like A-listers.

Uh oh.
Uh oh.

This looks like the elephant herd we know and love from The Jungle Book. Oh wait, no it doesn't. It looks like an intimidating herd of elephants that may be about to trample Mowgli. This really looks like a pretty dark film.

You're gonna need more fruit
You're gonna need more fruit

We get a slightly better look at Mowgli in this shot. He looks pretty much exactly how you would expect. However, someone who does NOT look like you would expect is King Louie, who appears to have an arm as big as Mowgli's face.

Planet of the apes?
Planet of the apes?

He also doesn't look like he wants to dance and sing. I can see him being a lot more of a villain in this film than in the last one. When you actually think about it, this film has more villains than the Amazing Spider Man 2. That's a lot of villains. Goes to show, the jungle is a dangerous place.

Watch out for that tree!
Watch out for that tree!

So we're looking at this being the age Mowgli will be for the majority of the film, as by this point he appears to be proficient at branch jumping (Tarzan?) and looks much the same as he does from the back in the other shots.

Cat fight!
Cat fight!

I can already tell that this is going to be one of the best scenes in the film, even if they just stop fighting and have a "Whose deep British voice is cooler" contest. Idris Elba and Ben Kingsley are fantastic choices for these roles. Did I say that already? Of course the problem is that Bagheera could never beat Shere Khan, and may be in big trouble here.

Meow!
Meow!

Especially since it looks like Shere Khan is able to get rid of Bagheera somehow and go after Mowgli again. It doesn't look good for Mowgli, hope he doesn't have to jump off a cliff or anything.

Loving the pose
Loving the pose

...Dammit. Yes, this doesn't look good for Mowgli. Maybe he won't get mad at Bagheera and Baloo and leave, maybe this happens early on and as he tries to find his way back to them he meets the likes of Kaa.

Hiss!
Hiss!

About time! Scarlett Johansson has been speaking the whole trailer, and we only see her for this quick shot. Kaa looks intimidating, and this does look like the dark part of the forest I mentioned at the start.

And we're gonna let it burn, burn, burn!
And we're gonna let it burn, burn, burn!

Oh dear. If this doesn't kill off Shere Khan, nothing will. I can only imagine this is a plan to defeat the tiger gone wrong.

Quick Baloo, dance!
Quick Baloo, dance!

This is a fun shot of Baloo and Bagheera. Looks like they've come to save Mowgli, and are being confronted with an army of Monkeys. I don't think they'll be able to dance their way out of it this time.

Hang on kid
Hang on kid

This proves my point from earlier. The Monkeys are escaping the forest which they have just stolen Mowgli from, with him on one of their backs.

Run Simba... oh wait
Run Simba... oh wait

This again looks straight out of the Lion King, but it isn't. Mowgli is in trouble yet again, and I'm wondering why there is a herd of wildebeast in the jungle. But they aren't in the jungle, which prompts the question Why not?

Fly Mowgli
Fly Mowgli

Here we see the fire again, and Mowgli jumping out of the way just before Shere Khan gets him. It's going to be a close one.

Black Panther
Black Panther

This looks like the Bagheera we know! A kind looking, fluffy panther. Kind of. He doesn't look like he could take on Shere Khan, but we know he'll do it for Mowgli. This may even be a young Bagheera.

That's handy
That's handy

At the climax of the trailer we see a lot of shots, but this is my favourite. King Louie is really unhappy that Mowgli is leaving, and you see the temple in all it's glory, as well as the size of Louie's hand compared to it! I'm sorry, but I kind of want to laugh thinking about that giant terrifying ape speaking like Christopher Walken!

There it is! That's the money shot there! Bill Murray whistling a well known tune in the background to this made me go a little insane for a moment!
And that is indeed the river from the very start!

That's it! What an epic first trailer! I can't wait to see the other characters speaking in it!
