Two days before the start of this year's Tokyo Game Show, Sony took the E3 route by holding their press conference ahead of the show, detailing new and exciting releases for PlayStation. Despite expectations of Kingdom Hearts 3 making an appearance during the week, the company instead teased it's upcoming HD compilation of Kingdom Hearts games -- titled Kingdom Hearts II.8.

Check out the trailer below:

To avoid any confusion: the game is not a remix of Kingdom Hearts 2, but rather an HD adaptation of other titles within the franchise, including:

  • Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance HD, an HD remaster of the original Nintendo 3DS game.
  • Kingdom Hearts X: Back Cover: a completely new cinematic within the franchise's canon.
  • Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -a fragmentary passage-: an all-new playable addition to the lore of Birth By Sleep's Final Mix.

Kingdom Hearts II.8 will release on Playstation 4 in 2016.
