Warning: Not for the faint of heart or stomach.
Meet Megan Tyler, a 16 year old self taught, aspiring SFX makeup artist from South-East England. Through makeup, Megan creates gruesome realistic wounds inspired by real life images or just her imagination. All images from her Instagram @megansfx or her Facebook.
Unlike the typical stereotype that someone may associate with a person who finds enjoyment in making themselves look brutally injured, Megan is very much a Disney loving girly girl, but just one with twist.
I am never bored, if I have nothing to do there is always something I can do with my scar wax, whether it be practicing simple cuts or making disgusting lacerations, I am always filling up my time with SFX makeup.
I also cosplay, so my development in gore has given me some awesome opportunities, including being able to go to London MCM dressed as one of my favourite horror characters, Freddy Krueger!
I had never thought about doing SFX until I randomly came across a video of my friend doing a split finger with scar wax, and happened to see some for sale in a local shop. I tried it that day and to my surprise I wasn't half bad! Since then my makeup collection keeps growing, and I can see improvement in each wound I do.
For anyone who is thinking about starting, I say do it, it's so fun with endless possibilities.
These next two I really love, my makeup is often just spur of the moment ideas so I never have props to accompany them, but this time I just happened to spot my scissors and thought they would make it much more interesting.
And finally here are some of my favourite most recent pieces I have done!
I really want to start doing more big pieces, including my face more, so please comment any suggestions, or cosplay ideas that I could attempt!
