Despite last week's now-possibly-debunked talk of cancellation and delay, it appears that -- allegedly -- plans for Man of Steel 2 are still in place, at least concerning the plot.
Heroic Hollywood reports that their sources have found out about three new possible additions to the DC Extended Universe that will appear in the film: Supergirl, Braniac, and Bizarro.
Due to the secretive nature surrounding the entire DCEU, the following is UNCONFIRMED hence the rumor status, however is within the realm of possibility.
I found out what Brainiac is after.
Remember in Man of Steel how Superman had the genetic codex of the entire Kryptonian race that General Zod was after? Well, it looks like Brainiac would be after the same thing. However, he is not trying to retrieve the codex from Superman. You see folks there was another Kryptonian survivor.
Yes folks, SUPERGIRL!
They expanded on the plotlines concerning the three characters, which tie in to the prequel comic that was released before the first Man of Steel film, stating that Bizarro is the result of Braniac manipulating Superman's DNA in order to create a monster that will hunt down Supergirl.
The DC Extended Universe -- their movie slate -- exists separately from their TV universe, where the Supergirl tv series is set to debut this month. With that said, if these rumors turn out to be true, fans can expect an all-new Kara Zor-El to debut on the big screen, much like Ezra Miller's Barry Allen will as well. Keeping the universes of film, tv, and digital entertainment apart may seem like a strange move, but it sets DC apart from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, BUT the success of this move will likely not be determined until next year's premieres of [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870) and Suicide Squad.
Man of Steel 2 is planned for release in 2019.
