I must admit, I was totally hyped up for "The Scorch Trials". After reading the original book series and watching the phenomenal movie, "The Maze Runner", I thought this second film would be totally epic. In some ways, it truly was but it depends on your perspective I guess.
If you are seeing the film without reading the books it is totally worth it. Grab a bag of popcorn and your 3D glasses and get ready for two hours of constant adventure. From the very start the audience is thrown into "The Scorch" along with Thomas and his fellow Gladers. A world infected by extreme conditions and deranged creatures makes just the right mix of post-apoctalytic thrill we have all grown to love. If the heroes desperate escape for freedom isn't enough to make this film worthwhile, the imagery of our injured world is. The sand filled rivers and collapsed buildings truly menages to send even the most bored of viewers into "The Scorch".
For those of you who have read the book, I warn you, except for a few random scenes towards the middle of the film, it has totally deviated from the original story. Although it still is enjoyable to watch, if you go to watch the film, and expect it to have some fragments of the book embedded into the plot, you are in for a surprise.
You have been warned.
Now, whether you are cheering for the characters, or saying "THAT'S NOT IN THE BOOK!" "The Scorch Trials" is a 'must see' for any apocalyptic film lover, as long as you can stomach the book lovers' complaints, that is.
