18 years after the first book was published and 14 years after the first film premiered, the Harry Potter mania remains stronger than ever! Everyday, Tumblr blesses us with sweet nuggets of Potter nostalgia, and if we're lucky and we really believe, Queen Rowling herself indulges us with magical secrets via Twitter. Most of the memes and Tumblr posts bring back sweet memories of our fictional time at Hogwarts, but occasionally, you get a few posts that tear at your inner soul and cause you inner agony worse than a Dementor's kiss...

That being said, enjoy these mind-blowingly depressing Harry Potter posts! Prepare your tissues!

1. The Ghosts of Hogwarts Past

The epilogue of Deathly Hallows left us with a beautiful image of our heroes moving on and living a happy life with their loving family, but we often forget the lasting repercussions that the Dark Lord's reign left in the lives of those who lived through the Battle of Hogwarts, as well as the lives of generations to come. The Battle of Hogwarts forever tainted the proud castle. Can you imagine going to school somewhere with such a dark past? Half the student population would be ghosts!

2. A Sacrifice of Love

While I still believe that Harry and Hermione still had potential, this Tumblr post has a point. Ron loved Hermione and would do anything to keep her safe! They came a long way from that first meeting in the Hogwarts Express.

3. A Second Chance

I have no shame in admitting to grossly sobbing after reading this one. Hagrid deserved so much more than what he received. He always took care of Harry through thick and thin and remained loving despite living through ridicule and consequences from being falsely accused so many years ago. Comment below if you think Hagrid deserves a second chance!

4. The Missing Half

This one should be illegal. It's dripping in emotional cruelty. Molly and the rest of the Weasley lost an incredible son and brother, but George lost his second half. They did everything together. Fred even died with the shadow of the final smile he shared with his brother.

5. Fact vs. Fantasy

Never thought about it this way before, did you? Sirius may have become unhinged and suffered a dark past, but he ultimately desired peace and the love of his grandson. Yes, books are fun! Just goes to show that you don't always get what you deserve.

6. A Mother's Love

Everyone always seems to gloss over the fact that Remus and Tonks essentially became the new Lily and James Potter. Both died protecting the wizarding world and their beloved son from the Dark Lord, and both orphaned boys were put under the care of the fallen heroes' most trusted companion. Thankfully, unlike Harry, Teddy will have a loving father figure who will tell him about the amazing sacrifice his parents made for him and the wizarding world.

7. Too Young To Die

This is one of the few instances where the films fell short in accuracy. The films depict Lily and James in their mid thirties or early fourties when they, in fact, were a mere 21 years old when the Dark Lord ruthlessly murdered them in their own home. Harry's life essentially became a near copy of his parents' as he too took on the heavy responsibility of battling against Voldemort at a young age and vanquished him at the tender age of 17.

8. Embracing the Inevitable

I can't handle these posts anymore! See number 6! Why cruel world!?

9. Power of Fear

Yes, Draco was essentially an a**hole, and no, nothing justifies the irreversible pain he caused. However, you have to admit that Draco also lived under immense familial pressure. In his early years at Hogwarts, the young Slytherin looked up to his father, Lucius, and followed his bidding out of admiration and loyalty. However, as the years went on, that obedience budded straight from the fear of disappointment from his father, as well as the fatal repercussions of disappointing Voldemort himself.

10. The Final Countdown

Somehow the Harry Potter fandom has been lucky enough to live through a ongoing timeline, but it had to end at some point, people! Yes, we will surpass Harry and his friends time-wise very soon, but they will forever live in our hearts! Plus, I'm sure J.K. Rowling will be gifting us with Twitter gold for as long as we nag her about things, so keep obsessing Potterheads!

I would just like to apologize for putting you all through that emotional torture, but it must be done. Harry Potter may generally bring us joy and smiles, but darkness is intertwined the story as well. The darkness may have been painful, but it definitely gave the saga all the more depth and meaning!
