True icons are often destined to die before their time, and sadly it seems like the much beloved stoner idol Silent Bob is doomed to follow this pattern and be snatched from us too soon.

Kevin Smith has revealed that Silent Bob will meet a rather undignified end in the masticating jaws of a bloodthirsty moose in the third movie in his True North trilogy, undoubtedly leaving his 'hetero-life-mate' Jay bereft, and hopefully hellbent on revenge.

I know it's hard to take in...

Smith, who is currently still writing the script for Moose Jaws, told an Australian News website that:

I just finished writing the scene where — spoilers — Silent Bob gets eaten by the moose. That’s how he f---ing goes out!

Apparently deciding which of the comedy duo should bike the dust was not as heartbreaking as you might think, mainly for the sake of Mewes' future employment! Smith explained that the exchange went a little something like this:

I was talking to Jay about Moose Jaws and I’m like, ‘I’m thinking about bringing us in as the Captain Quint character’ and he goes, ‘Yeah, but Quint gets killed!’ I was like, ‘One of us has to get eaten’. And he was like, ‘You. Not me’. I was like, ‘Why?’ And he was like, ‘Because I wanna be in other movies!’ Fair enough, dude. So, rather than let him go out with dignity he’ll be eaten by a f---ing moose.
Admittedly not the most noble creature to be eaten by

While I'm pretty delighted that Jay will live to smoke another day because I really fancied him while I was a stoner teenager (), my heart sinks to think we won't get any more pearls of wisdom from the oft-silent savant like ones below:

But what I really want to know now is, will Bob have any last words?
