Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials comes out tomorrow, the 18th of September, and I am more than ecstatic to see Thomas and his gang of Gladers behave much more badass as teenagers than I do in my mid-twenties.
As a means of promotion, Hypable has released five "debriefing" videos, in which Thomas and his friends confide in us about their worries and hopes. Although this won't appear in the actual film itself, it's definitely worth a watch to help us get into the intensity that is the Scorch and the WCKD.
I think this is a genius manner of promoting the film as well as offering us an intimate perspective on the mindsets of our favorite characters.
I am unsure if Minho is really that brave, or if he is faking it to help him survive. He says, "Running kept me alive for three years in the Maze. I’m not afraid of the Scorch." But one look at that barren land of sand, and I'm shaking in my boots.
Frypan, on the other hand, admits his fear. "If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human." Well, I'm incredibly human, then.
Newt knows he has no option, but to fight and against the WCKD, rather than accept the life they are given. “One thing I do know. We need to do something."
Aris may be the newest member of the crew, but he already understands their significance. He knows that they are the only hope for a better life, and that the WCKD is actually the enemy out to get them. "That’s why they’ll never stop chasing us. We are the cure.”
Leader Thomas seems to have girdled his loins, and although there is a hint of fear in his voice, he realizes he has no choice if he wishes to overcome the WCKD. "These people are not who they say they are. The Maze was just the beginning.”
I find their bravery incredibly inspiring! I know I will be clenching the edges of my seat as I watch Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, cheering Thomas and the Gladers on as they battle against the WKCD and the Scorch.
