Say it ain't so! Another rising Hollywood power couple in Hollywood, Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander, has reportedly called it quits.
According to Us Weekly, the pair split after nine months of dating, but the reason why remains unclear. I'm not pointing any fingers, but Fassbender has been pretty vocal about his trouble maintaining long-term relationships in the past. He admitted his main priorities to GQ:
I'm kind of selfish with the hours that I put into the work. I think the longest relationship that I’ve been in was two years...I started doing this when I was 17, so I guess in my dating, adult life, that kind of covers it.
The split comes at a time when awards season is just beginning, and both performers are already being favored as contenders for major prizes. Fassbender's turn as the titular character in Steve Jobs has won him early praise, and the same goes for Vikander's emotional role across Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl.
Though it's still early, with both of them squarely at the head of their packs, we may be seeing them collide on a few red carpets when the timing is right. For their sake, let's how they ended things on amicable terms.
