This year we saw former Academy Award nominee, Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu, receive the Oscar for Best Director for his film, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). With stunning directorial and cinematography based feats of accomplishment, along with stellar performances and writing, the film went on to receive three more Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Screenplay. It's no secret now that Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu is one of incredible visionary imagination and compelling storytelling. On December 25, 2016, Innaritu's next film, The Revenant, is set to explore the true tale of 19th century frontiersman, Hugh Glass, who explored the vast Western frontier of America. Glass is most notable for having crawled his way back to civilization from a horrible bear mauling which led to a broken leg and open wound injuries on his neck and back, which exposed ribs. Abandoned and utterly alone, Glass crawled his way through Native American land and was reluctantly aided by the Native American people who sewed bearskin to his wounds and tended to him. Eventually, Glass manages to bring his way back to Missouri and Fort Kiowa. This harrowing tale is immense and breathtaking and with the new trailer for Innaritu's adaptation, it is plain to see that his take on the wild tale is no less than incredibly amazing. Already, Innaritu's stellar directing style and Emmanuel Lubezki's daring cinematography are evident in this exciting trailer. A must see for avid movie goers and everyone else alike!
