As fate would have it, the 67th Emmy Awards also coincided with the 67th birthday of A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin, who turned up to the event for one hell of a star-studded shindig.
Martin, who appeared sans-hat and in front of Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff, was also the butt of a good-natured joke in which host Andy Samberg showed a picture of Martin at his first Emmy Awards.
However, the best bit of this segment was then Samberg joked: “Thanks for telling me during the commercial that Jon Snow is alive.” Cue laughter and an exasperated head shake from Benioff. Check it out below:
Does that head shake betray some kind of secret about the fate of Jon Snow? Well, no, probably not, although body language experts are free to tell me otherwise.
However, if you want more incontrovertible evidence that Jon Snow will return to this mortal coil, you only need to look at reports claiming Jon Snow actor Kit Harrington has been seen wandering around Ireland, where Game of Thrones films, with his long Jon Snow locks. Considering he has previously gone on record to state he hates his long hair (and would presumably cut it all off after he finishes playing Jon Snow), it's starting to look very likely he has been filming scenes for Game of Thrones Season 6.
