What a time to be alive if you are a geek, right? I mean, don't get me wrong I understand that comics have taken a huge hit in the past 10 years or so but we live in a world today where film dominates all elements of entertainment. We have already been blessed with some amazing films in the past few years. Pretty much all the Marvel films pretty much have done a pretty good job, I absolutely loved Man of Steel and there are so many more yet to come. The next year is going to be a huge one for geek culture as there seems to be just a huge amount of movies coming out. Let's explore and see what will make each of these movies great!

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (December 18th, 2015)

Fans have waited ten years for the next film in the Star Wars franchise, and some have been waiting around 40 for a good one. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens looks to revitalize the Star Wars franchise in an outstanding way. There are so many things that I believe will make this film great. The continuation of the original character's stories is something that myself and fans have waited for our entire life. What exactly happened to Luke? Han? Leia? This is all unknown and the fact that we will find out in about 2 months just blows my mind!

Deadpool (February 12th, 2016)

As a young comic fan, Deadpool was always a favorite of mine but I never thought I would ever see a real life adaptation on the big screen! Ryan Reynolds is the perfect person for the role as I believe that he fits the persona perfectly. Most of the superhero films that we have seen so far have been "Toned" down a bit in order to appeal to a more family oriented audience. Deadpool is going to do the exact opposite and bring a level of R-rated maturity to the superhero universe. The action looks to be outstanding and the humor will be outstanding of course. I can't wait for the constant references and one liners that will spew from Ryan Reynold's mouth this February!

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25th, 2016)

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice may just be the most anticipated film of the year for comic fans. The one thing that fans have been vying for is Batman and Superman on the big screen together. This film marks the official beginning of the Justice League, something that many of the younger viewers such as myself grew up with. Ben Affleck is taking over from Christian Bale as Batman and while many may still be unsure of his ability to pull it off, he looks amazing. Gal Gadot is going to be bringing Wonder Woman to the big screen for the first time and we may possibly see the new, badass Aquaman from Jason Momoa. This film is going to be more than just a typical superhero film, it is going to be the dawn of something special.

Captain America: Civil War (May 6th, 2016)

Perhaps the most anticipated battle behind Batman V Superman, Captain America: Civil War is set to change the Marvel Universe forever. The tension buildup between Cap and Iron Man in the past 2 Avengers films has definitely led up to this grand event in an extraordinary way. A fan favorite story line in the comic, the battle between Captain America and Iron leaves behind many casualties. It is also going to be a very fun film to watch as we get the first appearance of Black Panther! Black Panther is definitely a favorite among the fans and he should be awesome! We also have Ant-Man officially joining the Avengers so the original team is all intact! Hopefully none of my favorite characters die after what happened in Avengers: Age of Ultron...

X-Men: Apocalypse (May 22nd, 2016)

The first half of 2016 is going to just be heaven for comic book fans huh? X-Men: Apocalypse is going to attempt to continue the trend and make comic fans' dreams come true. The feelings on Fox's X-Men films have been mixed but the last 2, First Class and Days of Future Past have been met with critical acclaim. What we have seen from photos of Apocalypse so far have not impressed many but I think he should still be awesome! Not to mention we are going to get the introduction of Olivia Munn's Psylocke! Along with Sophie Turner as Jean Grey! I'm sure that this film will not fail to impress and it will only add onto what is already going to be an outstanding year!

Warcraft (June 10th, 2016)

Yes, I have dedicated my fair share of time to the always addictive MMORPG World Of Warcraft so when I heard that a film adaptation was on the way I instantly became interested. Not much is known at this point about Warcraft but I'm sure it will display the epic battle of Alliance vs Horde. It will be interesting to see which direction they decide to go in but if it is in any way as epic as the game then we are in for a real treat. Which side will you choose? Alliance or Horde?

Suicide Squad (August 5th, 2016)

Out of any film that is set to come out in the impending year, there is not one that I am more excited about than Suicide Squad. My excitement can be summed with 3 simple words, Jared...Leto's...Joker! I have been a supporter of Jared Leto's Joker since the casting and I stand by that even today. No, he will not be Heath Ledger, nobody is Heath but he will bring a new element on screen and it will be interesting to see. Not only am I excited to see The Joker, I am also excited to see his gal pal Harley Quinn who is being portrayed by Margot Robbie. I'm not sure there is a better casting choice on this list than Margot Robbie and I think she is going to kill it. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations and I enjoy it as much as I think I will!

Gambit (October 7th, 2016)

I was never too fond of Gambit in the comics but when I heard that Channing Tatum would be playing him on screen I instantly got excited. Is Channing the greatest character actor? No, but I think he fits the role relatively well. I saw his Gambit haircut at Comic-Con and few months back and I lost it. I think that Tatum has really grown as an actor over the past few years and this will be his biggest test to date. There are talks that both Deapool and Gambit will crossover with the X-Men films so it will be interesting to see if they go down that route in Gambit! I can't wait!

Doctor Strange (November 4th, 2016)

Doctor Strange is an interesting film that I think we all need to watch out for. It is going to be very intriguing to see how Doctor Strange is going to play into the MCU. Many have speculated that he will be a key member in the formation of the "Illuminati", a council that meets annually to discuss worldly issues. Benedict Cumberbatch is perfect for Doctor Strange and his performance will be the force behind his success!

What a year for Fandom!

If you are a fan of geek culture then this is definitely going to be there year for you! I hope you are all as excited as I am. We are all in for one hell of a year so get ready folks!

What film are you most excited for?
