***Spoilers for the first episode of Scream Queens below***

Ryan Murphy's new horror comedy, Scream Queens, premiered last night and opened with decent numbers and mixed reviews. The show stars Emma Roberts, Ariana Grande, Abigail Breslin, and Billie Lourd as a group of beautiful, but mean-spirited members of the Kappa sorority who find themselves being killed off by a demon-masked killer.

When Queen Bee Chanel No. 1 (Emma Roberts) is forced by the dean (Jamie Lee Curtis) to allow any willing women to pledge the house, they're joined by a group of strange, yet endearing misfits. The pledge class consists of Grace (Skyler Samuels), Zayday (Keke Palmer), Tiffany (Whitney Meyer), Hester (Lea Michelle), “Predatory Lez” (Jeanna Han), and Jennifer (Breezy Eslin).

Last night's episode provided enough gore and laughs to keep audiences around for at least another episode, but it also packed a serious surprise by killing off one of the main characters.

Having been in nearly all of the promotional material, cutting (literally) someone fans thought would be around for the long haul was a bold strategy that shocked viewers.

So, which character didn't make it past the orientation? Click the spoiler link to find out.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your stance on the young recording artist, Ariana Grande's character Chanel No. 2, a vapid yet timid sidekick to Chanel No. 1, didn't live to see the light of the show's second episode.

After being a huge part of the show's promotion, it was pretty surprising to see her go! I have a hard time believing Ryan Murphy only wanted to keep her around for one episode. So maybe there are plans for a flashback or some kind of reanimating the dead scene that she'll be involved in. I guess only time will tell.

So, were you surprised by last night's episode? Were you shocked to see that character go?

Scream Queens airs on Tuesday nights at 9/8c.
