A couple of weeks ago it was confirmed that the [Grey's Anatomy](tag:200746) star was about to close a deal to star in the upcoming film [Bridget Jones's Baby](tag:293051), the third installment in the successful franchise based on the Helen Fielding novels. Well, today Dempsey has confirmed to fans that he has arrived in the UK and production on the film has officially begun!
The star, who left Grey's Anatomy earlier this year after 11 seasons, revealed the news to fans with a photo on Instagram and a caption that reads:
Nice to be working in England. Renee and Colin are an absolute joy to work with!
Dempsey was of course referring to Renée Zellweger who will reprise her role as the eponymous Bridget Jones, and Colin Firth who will once again take on the role of Bridget's lover, Mark Darcy.
Sadly, details of Dempsey's character are yet to be revealed, though as the name of the film suggests, Bridget Jones will be pregnant, or a mother in this film - could Dempsey's character have had anything to do with this?
Sharon Maguire, who helmed the original film back in 2001, is on board to direct Bridget Jones's Baby. And, despite the first two films in the franchise (Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason) being based on novels by Helen Fielding, this third film is believed to be based on columns Fielding has written, rather than her third 'Bridget Jones' book, 'Mad About The Boy.' This could leave the option open for a possible, fourth installment in the Bridget Jones series in the future.
A release date for Bridget Jones's Baby is yet to be confirmed.
