It's official, Game of Thrones is the most talked about show ever. And it's 12 award win this year isn't even testament enough to how insanely awesome it is.

And much of this is due to the wonderful cast members that give it their all to bring George R.R. Martin's expansive fantasy world to life on the small screen. But, have you ever wondered what these actors and actresses look like in real-life?

Well, recently, Emilia Clarke surprisingly revealed how she doesn't get recognized all that often as the Mother of Dragons.

She said:

It's always been funny going out with Kit, because he's so recognisable. We went to a FKA Twigs gig and it was mental. I went to the loo and in the cubicle on either side the girls were like, 'That's Jon Snow out there! Don't know who that random girl is...'

In all fairness to the girls who didn't recognize her, she does look very different as a natural brunette! And she's not the only one who spends a great deal of time in the make-up chair transforming herself into her on-screen character - many of the other actors from the show do, too. In fact, I'm sure if you passed a few of them on the street or bumped into them in a public toilet, you probably wouldn't even know it. Take a look at these incredible transformations:

1. Rory McCann as "The Hound" Sandor Clegane

Without the horrific burns and his savage nature, Rory McCann looks like a pretty fun guy to hang out with!

2. Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister

In real-life, Lena Headey appears to be the opposite of Cersei with her jet black hair and stunning tattoos. She still looks like a pretty tough lady though, but perhaps without the heart of a frozen b*tch:

3. John Bradley-West as Samwell Tarly

John Bradley-West looks better when he's less perpetually perplexed.

4. Alfie Allen as Theon "Reek" Greyjoy

With his manhood still intact, Alfie Allen doesn't look like someone who has been horrifically tortured beyond repair.

5. Maisie Williams as Arya Stark

A glammed-up Maisie Williams looks a world apart from her character, Arya, who wouldn't be caught dead in a pink gown and sparkly heels.

6. Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark

A slightly less sickly-pale Sophie Turner had to die her naturally baby blonde hair to achieve that deep red color for the show.

7. Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth

Gwendoline Christie had to endure an epic transformation for her role of badass Brienne. Speaking about her shorter hair in particular, she's said:

I struggled for a long time with [cutting] my hair, but then I’m grateful for the opportunity to realize that femininity doesn’t have to come from hair or any of those traditional female archetypes of appearance, So, that’s been exciting actually.

8. Carice van Houten as Melisandre

As soon as Carice dons a wig for her role as the Red Priestess, she's barely recognizable. Apparently, each hairpiece can cost up to a whopping $7,000!

9. Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister

For Season 5, Peter Dinklage had to ensure his beard was extra bushy. Naturally, he trims it when he's not working.

10. Natalie Dormer as Margery Tyrell

During the filming period of The Hunger Games, Natalie Dormer boasted a shaved hairstyle and couldn't look any more different than her Game of Thrones character Margery.

11. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister

Slightly different, but still SEXY.

12. Iwan Rheon as Ramsay Bolton

You'll be happy to know that Iwan Rheon looks less like a psychotic tyrant in real-life.

13. Hannah Murray as Gilly

Rags and a greasy lid don't do any favors for Gilly. And actress Hannah Murray knows this only too well, preferring to wear intact clothing and going for a regular blow-dry now and again.

14. Jacob Anderson as Grey Worm

Slightly less fierce, but no less handsome.

And finally...

12. Kit Harington as Jon Snow

Yep, no changes there apart from a tiny dollop of hair gel. Keep rocking that bold look Kit, especially since you're definitely coming back in the next season, right...?
