Last month it was revealed that A Nightmare On Elm Street would be rebooted again. But if you thought it would be another remake of the first one, maybe a sequel, or possibly just a new story all together,
You Were Wrong!
According to Bloody Disgusting, Robert Englund speculates that the new movie being made over at New Line Cinema will be a remake of the most popular Elm Street sequel, The Dream Warriors.
Here's some of what Mr. Englund had to say about his speculation.
“I tried to think, what does that mean? They can’t possibly be remaking A Nightmare On Elm Street Part 1 again? They just did that! It’s like remaking Godzilla twice in a row – they should have learned from lesson by now."
Remaking sequels hasn't been the trend so far in Hollywood. So this is an interesting choice. And although I'd prefer it if they created a new story altogether, I'm not necessarily in disagreement with their choice to remake this particular sequel.
Mr. Englund also went on to say he definitely won't be playing the infamous Freddy Krueger again.
“They’re not gonna be bring me back for Freddy,” he explained. “Perhaps they’d bring me back in a cameo as an elderly dream expert at the local clinic for dream analysis or therapy?”
He goes on to clarify that he's still just speculating at this point. And that his guess is based off of what he's heard from reliable sources.
“I don’t really know any details at this time.”
The next Elm Street flick is just one of the slasher movie franchises slated for a comeback. Others include Friday The 13th, Halloween, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
