My family and I often rush off to Mexico during the summer to enjoy the soft sand, the warm ocean, the latin music, the delicious enchiladas and guacamole available in the beauty that is Mexico.
Although my family and I were just there not more than a few weeks ago, it is true that we now only stay at the resorts and we no longer travel inland. Mexico, unfortunately, isn't as safe as it used to be.
Dismally, former Miss USA Ali Landry's father-in-law and brother-in-law were found dead after being held ransom for 16 days.
Juan Manuel Gomez Fernandez and Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde were kidnapped in Tampico, a city that is located in the northeastern state Tamaulipas. Their bodies were found with multiple head wounds.
Even though the ransom had been paid off to ensure the safety of the two, they were still murdered in an area infamous for drug cartel violence.
Ali Landry's husband Alejandro Gomez Monteverde is known for his films Little Boy and Bella, with the latter having won for first place at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006.
Our prayers are with the Landry and Gomez families during this insanely trying time. We hope they somehow find comfort and peace in this horrendous situation.
