Director Ridley Scott who's newest film, The Martian, hits theaters next week has been talking a lot about the sequels to his 2012 Alien prequel, Prometheus. The next film in the series will begin shooting next year but the director revealed we may be seeing up to two more sequels after that film.
When Prometheus was hitting theaters back in 2012, Ridley Scott was adamant that this was not an Alien prequel, even though we all knew it was and has said that it may take a while for the two series' to connect with one another. Well...it was just announced by Scott that the next film in the Prometheus story will be titled Alien: Paradise Lost.
I have a feeling that this was a decision made by the studio who most likely feel that the Alien brand will help with the next films Box Office as Prometheus was a very divisive film among fans and that title may not be able to bring in as much Box Office.
I think it's a good idea to start connecting the two franchises though, and even with something as small as an Alien referencing title, it makes me a feel a little more comfortable about becoming invested in the continuation of the Prometheus story.
As you'll remember at the end of the first Prometheus film, we did get our first look at some Xenomorph type creature but Ridley Scott ensured us that we won't see an official Xenomorph until much later on, so don't be anticipating a lot of Xenomorph's in this next film despite the film's title.
Alien: Paradise Lost hits theaters May 30th 2017 and will star Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs, Macbeth) and Noomi Rapace (Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows, The Drop).
Are you guys fans of the new title? And what do you think it means for the movie? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter @JamesPorter97
