This is my third entry for the [#5 Day Recommendation Challenge](tag:3555492) : Recommend a film that got critically PANNED. If you'd like to join the conversation, check out the challenge details at the bottom of this post!

Today's task is to recommend a movie that was (to be polite) not so well received by film critics. So, here's my recommendation for a film that got absolutely slammed, but one that you STILL should watch regardless.

Gone In 60 Seconds (2000)

Gone In 60 Seconds came out in the year 2000 (a mighty fine year) and was directed by Dominic Sena. In the film, Nicholas Cage plays a retired car thief named Memphis, who gets back into the game to save his brother from being murdered. In order to do so, Memphis reassembles his old crew comprised of Sarah "Sway" Wayland (played by Angelina Jolie) and Sphinx (Vinnie Jones). To help keep his brother from harm, they have to steal 50 exotic cars within 24 hours.

Despite the star studded cast, however, Gone In 60 Seconds was not too popular among most critics and fans.

Poor ratings and harsh reviews notwithstanding, Gone In 60 Seconds was a very important film to me when it released and is one that I still hold in high-esteem. For me, Gone In 60 Seconds was The Fast and The Furious BEFORE The Fast And The Furious was cool. Keep in mind this was also the early 2000's when Sir Nicholas Cage was in his absolute prime.

Gone In 60 Seconds (for it's time) was incredibly stylish, well cast and full of great action sequences as well as some insanely cool vehicles. Not to mention the soundtrack was absolutely badass! Remember this jam during the opening sequence? Don't listen to the critics, guys. If you haven't seen Gone In 60 Seconds it is surly one for your to-watch list. Have you seen it already? Tell me what you thought of it in the comments or make a reply-post!

Today, I also nominate Stewart Fletcher, Sree Lal, Peter DiDonato and Tommy Watanabe to do the 5 day challenge.
