Happy birthday to actor/producer/director/songwriter and everyman Will Smith! He turns 47 today.

Fans are pumped to see his portrayal of DC antihero, Deadshot, in the upcoming Suicide Squad, but Smith has obviously had a hugely successful career as one of the most bankable blockbuster actors in Hollywood history.

Smith first rose to fame as a rapper and the MC of his hip-hop duo, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, and they won the first ever Grammy awarded for rap in 1988 with hits like "Parents Just Don't Understand" and "Summertime."

Parlaying his humor and charisma into an acting career, Smith made the jump to television with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. His first major big screen roles were Six Degrees of Separation, and from there, his movie career took off. Other notable roles are the Men in Black and Bad Boys franchises, Enemy of the State, I, Robot, and Hancock. He's also shown an ability to tackle dramatic roles, with starring turns in films such as The Pursuit of Happyness and Ali, both of which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, Seven Pounds, and The Legend of Bagger Vance.

He has been married to fellow DC family actress, Jada Pinkett-Smith ( Gotham) since 1997, and they have two children, Jaden and Willow Smith, both of whom have inherited their parents' creative talent.

Earlier this year, Smith starred in Focus alongside his fellow Suicide Squad star, Margot Robbie. Along with Suicide Squad, one of Smith's most anticipated upcoming roles is as Dr. Bennet Omalu in Concussion, a film which is already garnering him Best Actor buzz.

Happiest of birthdays to Will Smith!
