In response to the article asking us to pick our favorite Sci-Fi show that shouldn't have been cancelled too early. I could not pick just one because in my opinion three of the seven shows listed FIREFLY, JERICO, and TERRA NOVA never should have been cancelled as early as they were.
I believe that the problem these shows had while they were on tv is the time slots they were given for broadcast. Unfortunately the Sci-Fi Genre gets pushed into a later time slots and inconvenient days so that the sitcoms, reality and game shows get the best slots. We are in a position now (with DVRs) where we can record our favorite shows and watch them at a more presentable time or day when we aren't as busy.
Personally, I'm not so sure how well the ratings are working for those of us who enjoy these types of shows because the good ones seem to get cancelled more and more frequently. I do think the critics aren't helping either. They never seem that "into" Sci-Fi because some of the things I've read about a series that was awesome in my eyes were viewed and came out much worse in the critics eye.... so how can they really be that into Sci-Fi? Its probably all about pleasing those who pays the most to the stations, those who have pockets full of money and prefer to watch non-Sci-Fi or the average guy/gal who doesn't put that much cash into the well.
Anyway, I do wish these three ran longer. Thank God for Netflix so we can rewatch them whenever we feel the need to look at them again!
