In a recent interview , Robert Englund spoke about what direction Freddy could and should be going in for future Elm Street movies. And one of his suggestions was for them to make Freddy throw down with the iconic slasher, Michael Myers.
Here's what he said in his interview:
“You don’t do remakes! I would do ‘Freddy 9’, you know? Or I would do ‘Freddy vs Michael Myers’. Or I would do a prequel.”
What that probably means
Mr. Englund is probably just thinking of ways the studio could go for future installments, and doesn't mean he'd actually play Freddy himself - although he has shown interest in doing a prequel for some years now.
What we want it to mean
He says ''I would do'' a lot in his response. Which makes me wonder if he's actually talking about himself playing Freddy again - but only if under those circumstances.
Freddy vs Michael Myers?
If this is the movie that will get Englund back into the makeup chair, then of course I'm all for it. It's a win-win situation, too. Fans want to see him play Freddy one more time, and of course we all wanna know if Krueger can take on the madman that is Michael Myers, right?! (Michael would totally win.)
Another interesting thing Englund mentioned was his desire for them to stop the remakes. A chant many movie fans have been repeating since the the whole reboot craze began.
Why doesn't Hollywood ignite the crossover craze, huh?
UPDATE: Mr. Englund has recently confirmed, he will NOT, be playing Freddy Krueger in any future Elm Street movies. So I'm guessing he was just suggesting ways for the franchise to go, without him of course..
Would YOU Want to See Freddy Battle Michael Myers?
