I like anything and everything from books to comic books, to television to cinema, from Marvel to DC, and pro wrestling.

Kick-Ass 2 came out in 2013 and it had good momentum from the first film. But it did not perform well at the box offices. Some say it just was not good enough. Chloe Moretz blames the failure on piracy. But in my opinion, the real reason for the failure of Kick-Ass 2 is Jim Carrey.

Jim Carrey was to Kick-Ass 2 what Nic Cage was to Kick-Ass (the original film); the number one, the A-lister, the only name on the cast that you know right off the bat. But Carrey became conflicted by his own movie and its portrayal of violence. So after he was finished with his part of the job and got his check he completely abandoned the project. He came out and said he would not promote or endorse Kick-Ass 2.

What happens when the biggest star on the cast completely drops out at the last minute and does not support the movie? The movie gets poor promotion and poor advertising. Especially if it's released around the same time as other highly anticipated films. Such as Lee Daniel's The Butler; the most overrated movie of 2013 " The Butler" came out around the same time as Kick-Ass 2 and literally stole the show.

It's been said before that Carrey could have utilized his character, Colonel Stars and Stripes, who was anti gun and a born again Christian to actually make a stand against violence. Instead of finishing the job, taking his check, going home and saying he's against violence and don't go see Kick-Ass 2.

Chloe Moretz did what she could to save the movie. She was on Conan to promote it. She spoke out against piracy. But Jim Carrey's doing had the biggest cost. Now it's almost 2016 and there's a possibility of a Hit-Girl prequel and Kick-Ass 3. Let's hope for the best. Especially after the post credit scene of Kick-Ass 2; which is one of my favorite moments from the series.
