In about two months from now, Dragon Age: Inquisition will be a year old - this year FLEW by! Bioware's latest title saw them walk away with the coveted Game of the Year award, one which I don't think was really that well deserved. However, I've loved the Dragon Age series from the beginning. The first instalment is one of my favourite RPGs and its been a pleasure to witness the franchise expand upon its original values.

But seeing as the last instalment was so successful, along with its DLC, can we expect to see Dragon Age return like Mass Effect has with [Mass Effect: Andromeda](tag:2683449)? What would we want from a return of the Dragon Age franchise?

After Inquisition, Could We See Dragon Age 4 From Bioware?

Dragon Age: Inquisition was a truly great game. However it was far from perfect - hell, I didn't even consider it the best candidate for the Game of the Year award - looking at you Dark Souls 2! But this series has had some remarkable highs. The first game is close to perfection! Its characters are gripping, the story is epic and grandiose, the combat is satisfying and deep, and even after 150 hours I wasn't ready to set down my staff! The success of this franchise makes us think that something similar could surface in the future. What I loved about Dragon Age: Origins was how it felt like a natural extension of the RPGs that Bioware were initially famous for. I'd love to see them expand on what made Origins such a fantastic game. Whether that expansion should be Dragon Age 4 or not, that's the real question. Should this series be left alone after Inquisition?

Should Dragon Age Continue, Like Mass Effect?

When it comes to Mass Effect: Andromeda, I completely understand why Bioware are developing it. The success of the series along with the demand for more will ensure it succeeds on its release date! But is Dragon Age that kind of series? Can it sustain an equal level of support to Mass Effect? For the latter, almost definitely not! But Bioware have such a talent when it comes to more traditional, fantasy RPGs that it'd be a shame to see them stop developing them!

Personally, I've no desire for another Dragon Age game per se, but to see Bioware create something akin to Origins would be thrilling! There's a reason that so many RPGs take the whole traditional elves, dwarves and dragons route - it's still captivating. Dragon Age 4 isn't something I'm pining for, but I'd love to hear where you stand on the topic!
