Despite already playing a badass DC character, well one-half at least, The Flash's Robbie Amell has recently been talking about his desire to take up the mantle of the Dark Knight of the future in a live-action adaptation of Batman Beyond.
Batman Beyond takes place in the not too distant future where Bruce Wayne is an older and cantankerous man who, due to having had a heart attack on the prowl as Batman, has given up his crime fighting days and handed the mantle over to a younger hero - Terry McGinnis.
At Salt Lake Comic-Con, Amell discussed his idea of a Beyond adaptation with a packed audience, and it doesn't sound half bad:
"I am a huge fan of that idea. I think the problem is because they have Batman going on right now, they won't make the Batman Beyond movie until I'm too old to be Terry McGinnis. By then I'll probably be the old, crusty Batman."
"But I'm a huge fan of that idea. I think it would be a great property. I think the smartest idea for them would be to make it like a $30 million movie. Don't do like a $200 million blockbuster, do a dark, gritty version of Batman Beyond.
The visual effects have come so far that you don't need $200 million to show the technology that they have. Make it a nice, grounded character piece. But I don't run studios, so that means nothing."
The idea of introducing a future Batman to the cinema has been flying around at DC Entertainment for some time now, and the love of the idea was even corroborated by super-producer Michael Uslan, who a few years ago stated that he would have loved to have seen a BB movie with none other than Clint Eastwood playing Old Man Wayne!

Whether or not this will actually come to pass in the years to come is anyone's guess, but it would be an awesome and logical step seeing as the DCEU is gearing up to explode onto screens around the globe.
Seeing as Ben Affleck's Batman is an older, more haggard version than we've previously seen on the silver screen, why could he not hand the mantle over to someone more physically able post-Justice League?
Keeping that in mind, fan artist extraordinaire BossLogic has worked his usual magic, and drawn up an awesome image that has Robbie Amell in the iconic cowl of the future Batman.
