In its long history, BBC's Doctor Who has welcomed some of the most interesting guest stars and featured them in various roles, some prominently, and others in ways that fans had to dig pretty deep to discover. The upcoming season seeks to continue that tradition, with featured guest stars like Game of Thrones favorite Maisie Williams, and now, a very distinct sort of roar that can only be bellowed by a veteran screamer.

While Slipknot was touring Cardiff, the band was invited to visit the set of Doctor Who. Over the course of the day, it was decided that frontman Corey Taylor had exactly what the crew needed to bring a terrifying new monster called the Fisher King to life.

"We needed an awesome roar for the Fisher King," said producer Derek Ritchie. "We asked Corey if he might like to do the honors. He was completely up for it."

That means three actors will bring this horrifying new villain to life -- with Taylor on the roar, the UK's tallest man, Neil Fingleton, in the costume, and Guardians of the Galaxy's Peter Serafinowicz providing the monster's speaking voice.

According to Ritchie:

He has one of the most well-known screams in the history of music. We now have the most incredible roar for our incredible monster! He now sounds as terrifying as he looks!

For his part, Taylor has kept very quiet on the subject, which he confessed to struggling with (as any of us would):

You can hear Taylor's roar as The Fisher King in episode four of the new season, which premiered the Saturday before last. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 10th.
