I bet you thought that Halo 5 could not get any hotter before release. Well, you were wrong! Today, Microsoft has released the alternate opening cinematic sequence to Halo 5: Guardians and this time it stars the Master Chief!
Earlier this month Microsoft revealed what we thought to be the only opening cinematic to Halo 5. The opening sequence was certainly not short of action, in truth, it was actually one of the most action packed opening sequences of our generation. But... Master Chief wasn't in it.
Here's why. Halo 5: Guardians gameplay will not be exclusive to one character, the game will allow players to step into both the shoes of Master Chief and Agent Locke, with minor playable aspects being allocated to other members of their fireteams.
The Opening Cinematic for the Chief
Today, we see the second opening to Halo 5, or should I say, the second opening 'mission.' The earlier video we featured is the opening video for Locke's team. The following cinematic for Chief's team, known as "Blue Team."
It begins with the Chief holding his iconic helmet in his hands, looking down into the vacant stare of his visor. Conversations between crew members reveal that they are more than a little concerned about their fearless leader.
It seems that the Chief has been kicking Covenant butt without a break for years. Mission after mission, kill after kill is a tall order for even the strongest of Spartan warriors.
Master Chief's team consists of himself and three other Spartans II’s: Fredric-104, Kelly-087, and Linda-058.
Blue Team has been tasked to locate the missing Naval Intelligence ship, Argent Moon. The facility has fallen into Covenant hands and need to be recovered. The video goes on to show the Chief and his team decamp from their ship in full jetpack flight mode and towards the loading bay of the Argent Moon.
Blue Team lines up mid flight and fire through the protective glass doorway and into the dock where the Covenant are gathered. The Covenant forces prepare for battle but are immediately sucked out of the broken window. While Blue Team stand fast with the aid of their jetpacks. Prime example of the Chief's 'brains over brawn' tactics.
Microsoft has hailed Halo 5: Guardians as “the start to the most ambitious, robust and epic Halo campaign experience yet." I think Halo 5: Guardians will create a world that will surpass any other possible gaming experience.
Halo 5: Guardians will be released exclusively on Xbox One onOctober 27.
