It's unfortunately difficult to look at two actors who played brother and sister, uncle and niece, father and daughter, and more, as anything else; we somehow get the actors confused with their characters, and we can't help but see them as related.
It becomes incredibly strange, and almost borderline creepy, when the actors portraying family end up dating in real life. Sure, they may not actually be related in real life and share any blood relations, but something about it still gives us the chills.
1. Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter from Dexter
This couple met on the set of Dexter, dated for nearly three years, were married from 2008 to 2010, and then divorced.
2. Ian Somerhalder and Maggie Grace from Lost
After both characters were killed off the show, these two started dating. The two opted to keep their relationship on the down low.
3. Maureen McCormick and Barry Williams from The Brady Bunch
The two grew up playing brother and sister, but felt a different sort of love for each other, as they began to develop romantic feelings. They began a little romance in 1972, and McCormick admits that she had always had a huge crush on him.
4. Lauren Graham and Peter Krause from Parenthood
These two began dating in 2010, after being really close friends for more than ten years. Graham's Gilmore Girls co-star, Kelly Bishop, had been attempting to set them up for years before that.
5. Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Grey from Ferris Bueller's Day Off
These two dated for a short time in the '80s, but split after getting involved in a tragic car accident. They both sustained horrible injuries, and the passengers of the other car didn't survive. Their relationship didn't survive shortly after either.
6. Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia from Heroes
These two dated for a year, from 2007 to 2008. They met on the set while playing niece and uncle.
7. Chris Pratt and Emily VanCamp from Everwood
Chris Pratt and Emily VanCamp played siblings on WB's Everwood from 2002 to 2006. They dated while on the show, but broke up in 2007.
8. Katherine Heigl and Jason Behr from Roswell
These two portrayed orphaned alien brother and sister, but they dated off-screen. Their relationship ended unfortunately during the same time the series ended.
9. Shannen Doherty and Jason Priestley from Beverly Hills, 90210
These two may have played twins, but they definitely felt the same for each other as they dated in the early '90s. But apparently, all the teen icons dated each other over the years, as Priestly has said.
I think we can try to see past their characters and focus on the fact that these actors aren't actually related to each other.
I'm crossing my fingers that I act in a film where Charlie Hunnam is my brother. But I definitely don't have brotherly feelings towards him at all.
