The Martian opens tomorrow in wide release and 3-D.
The story of Astronaut Mark Watney, is just what the world needs, something to bring people together. A ferocious storm on Mars, threatens the lives of the crew on the first manned mission to the red planet. When Matt Damon's character is left for dead on the planet surface, he must use all his wit and resources to survive. Back on Earth, a team of NASA scientists try to figure out how to bring him home, once they've discovered he's alive. His crew also attempts a dangerous mission to rescue him, while the world comes together during the crisis.
This May be the blockbuster of the holiday season. Several films like "Red Planet", and "Mission to Mars" have touched on the dangers of interplanetary travel, This film has a sense of the human tenacity within all explorers, to survive.
Matt Damon has become one of Americas greatest leading men in sometimes obscure films. The Bourne series aside, my favorite featuring Damon is a Scifi movie called "The Adjustment Bureau" from a story by Philip K Dick, who wrote many great books, with several turned onto the big screen, including "the Minority Report", "I can remember it for you wholesale"(Total Recall) and a classic "Do androids dream of electric sheep?"(Blade Runner) The Movie also features Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Kristen Wiig, Sebastian Stan, Sean Bean, Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover, Mackenzie Davis, Michael Peña, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Naomi Scott, and Aksel Hennie, directed by Scifi master Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner)
I think this will be a Huge hit for Damon, as the reviews are strong, and besides, everyone likes a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat, unless you're wearing 3-D glasses, in that case sit back, and hold on!
