When Vin Diesel abandoned the xXx franchise, Sony clearly thought he'd never return, as they unceremoniously killed him off in an extra DVD scene for the Ice Cube-headed sequel, xXx: State of the Union.

Well, I say they killed him off -- in fact, as the video below shows, they killed someone who simply looks like Vin Diesel from behind. However, this might actually come in handy for explaining how he makes his return in the seemingly newly titled sequel. Maybe it was just a body double?

In a Facebook post ostensively about who will direct the eighth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, Vin Diesel let slip the title of the third movie of the xXx series: Xander Returns. Check out the full message below:

Currently, the third xXx movie is titled on IMDB.com as xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, so its unclear if it has changed or Vin merely made a slight mistake about the title. However, considering he's the main star, you'd kind of expect him to know the correct name of the movie.

In any case, it's unclear if the State of the Union deleted scene is considered canon, so we may or may not see Xander Cage return from the 'dead' in this third sequel. I mean, we saw a burning chunk of his flesh , so that might be just too hard to explain...
