The gaming industry is rife with remasters at the moment. From Halo: The Master Chief Collection on XBOX One, to the upcoming Uncharted Trilogy on PS4, we seemingly can't escape the past. But of course, all of these collections are being created in order to promote the arrival of future instalments, whether it be Halo 5 or Uncharted 4. Studios want to ensure that fans receive the best possible version of the game they loved, while additionally giving newcomers the opportunity to enjoy a close-to-new product.
But when it comes to Mass Effect, is the idea of a remastered trilogy something we should entertain before the release date of [Mass Effect: Andromeda](tag:2683449)? Would you love to revisit a HD version of the adventures of Shepard on Xbox One and PS4? Bioware seem to be entertaining the notion!
A Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy Before the Release Date of Mass Effect: Andromeda!
A while back we saw representatives from Bioware engage fans on NeoGAF in a discussion about the possibility of seeing a Mass Effect Trilogy remaster. The standard updates that you would expect from a remastered collection were included in the discussion:
- 1,080p & 60fps
- High resolution textures, especially on ME1
- Some shader improvements commensurate with newer GPUs
- All the DLC
- "Seamless experience": the adventures flow into each other without having to go back to save import, menu screens, etc.
Mass Effect: Andromeda has already been sited as an excellent entry point for gamers who've never played any of the previous titles. Apparently fan service isn't exactly one of the main focuses of the next title. However, if a remastered trilogy was released, wouldn't this solve the issue of having too many references to the initial trilogy? In any case, as a massive fan of Bioware's work, playing Mass Effect on the PS4 would be something worth throwing a lot of money at.
But what else does a remaster need to contain in order to grab your attention? To be honest, when it comes to Mass Effect, very few additions would still make me purchase the whole collection. However, EA have yet to get on board with the whole remaster trend, but we really hope that Mass Effect is the series to break their silence!
Mass Effect: Andromeda is certainly making a push towards fans that have never played any of these games before. But devoted fans should be in no way neglected when it comes to this highly anticipated release. A Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy sounds like the perfect way to not only transfer saves, but to celebrate this amazing series before the release date of Andromeda.
