With the news that multiple of our favorite celebrity couples called it quits this year, we've already deemed this 2015 seasons to be the anti-summer of love. But although Ben and Jen, and Gavin and Gwen, have decided that they can no longer be a married couple, they still seem to be working as teams to co-parent their children and have settled their issues fairly quietly.

It's unfortunate when any couple decides to get a divorce, but some other famous couples split under far less amicable terms than usual. Here are eight couples who had some of the most acrimonious divorces in Hollywood history:

1. Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger

Married: 1993
Divorced: 2002

This unnervingly handsome couple was the envy of men and women for almost a decade. But once their relationship proved to be through, Basinger claimed Baldwin was physically and emotionally abusive throughout their relationship, Baldwin's brother Billy retaliated by calling her a "nutcase." At the eye of their post-marital storm was the contentious custody battle of their daughter Ireland.

2. Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

Married: 2002
Divorced: 2008

After four years together the marriage between the Beatle and his model and activist wife Heather Mills quickly deteriorated. Mills attempted to slander his name through the media with many insane allegations, but McCartney was not short of people happy to come to his defense. In the end, Mills was awarded $48.7 million in the divorce settlement. Paul McCartney has since said that marrying Mills was his "biggest mistake."

3. Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards

Married: 2002
Divorced: 2006

It's no secret that Charlie Sheen is a man of many unique interests. When he and Denise Richards divorced, she accused him of cheating on her, drug and alcohol addiction, and abuse. In response to her accusations, Sheen sent Richards threatening and distasteful emails and voice mails. Luckily, this feud has been water under the bridge since 2012 and the two are now on good enough terms to spend time with their children together.

4. Liza Minnelli and David Gest

Married: 2002
Divorced: 2007

Known as one of the messiest divorces in recent memory, the insults and accusations hurled towards one another were definitely some of the most incriminating. Gest accused Minnelli of intentionally infecting him with herpes and Minnelli stated she was "living in fear" of domestic abuse throughout their marriage and even said she thought he was trying to poison her.

5. Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson

Married: 1988
Divorced: 1993

Another divorce with plenty of hefty accusations behind it involves the famous feud between Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson. In their divorce proceedings mainly focused on Reynolds accusing Anderson of infidelity and her extravagant spending including $10,000 on clothes, $500 on nails, and $600 on hair every month. Of course Anderson denied these claims, but only they know for sure.

6. Donald and Ivana Trump

Married: 1977
Divorced: 1992

Former reality star and current Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump used to have his name in the news for his extremely public divorce from his wife of 15 years, Ivana Trump. Rumors swirled that Donald was having an affair with model and future ex-wife, Marla Maples. Ivana confronted Maples about it while on a family vacation in Aspen. Ivana later settled for an undisclosed amount (reported to be around $20 million) and became known for her now-famous phrase, "Don't get mad, get everything," which was immortalized in The First Wives Club.

7. Mel and Robyn Moore Gibson

Married: 1980
Divorced: 2011

Despite having seven children and 26 years of marriage between them, Mel and Robyn Gibson separated in 2006 after he had been arrested for drunk driving in Malibu. Although exactly what happened between the two remains pretty quiet, they're still worth including on this list simply because of whopping divorce settlement. Holding the record for the highest in Hollywood history, Robyn made off with a staggering $400 million.

In the end, these couples can split, but as long as they're both happy and their children are taken care of, it's all okay. To see more of the highest divorce settlements in Hollywood, click HERE.
