Day 4 of this challenge was to recommend a film that the critics hated. I watched Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and couldn't figure out why it consistently appears on lists of the worst films of all time. I mean sure, the costumes are gimmicky, but you've got to remember that this was 1964, so EVERYTHING on tv was gimmicky.
There are many things about this film that could have been done better, but the premise of the movie actually is brilliant. Sure there's definitely room for improvement in the costumes, but the script is actually beautiful. True, the actors and actresses do sound somewhat stilted when performing dialogue, but in this instance it is their delivery and not the script itself that is at fault. I do not think it was fair for the critics to give this film the terrible ratings it received. It could certainly have benefited from a few touch-ups here and there, but overall, it didn't deserve to be consistently placed on lists of the 100 worst films ever made. I mean that's just cruel.
