Demi Lovato seems to have it all: she's confident, she's beautiful, she's talented, and she has a big heart.
Like most of us, she has experienced stages in her life in which she didn't feel comfortable in her own skin, phases where she would doubt herself or even dislike her body.
In honor of her newest album Confident, which will be released October 16th, and her great-grandfather Buddy Moore whom she was incredibly close to, Lovato decided she needed to "embrace this new chapter" in her life as she put it, and express herself in a way that truly epitomizes her confidence and love for her natural self.
Lovato decided to do an impromptu photoshoot with Vanity Fair photographer Patrick Ecclesine with minimal lighting, no retouching, no clothing, and no makeup. Lovato is the most bare she's ever been in front of the camera, emotions and physical body included. And might I say she is so stunningly inspirational.
"The reason why I decided to do this photoshoot is because when I think of confidence, I think of many things, but one thing is feeling comfortable in your own skin."
"And I thought there was something incredible about the idea [of] no makeup whatsoever, no clothes, and no retouching. You know, that says...I would have never thought that I would have ever gotten to a place in my life where I could feel comfortable doing that."
"It's empowering and it shows other women that you can get to a place where you can overcome the obstacles of body image issues."
"And you can feel comfortable and confident in your skin."
"In the past I suffered from eating disorders and I basically went from hating every single inch of my body to working on myself and trying to figure out ways to love myself, love the skin that I'm in."
"I learned after working very hard on my spirituality and my soul and my body, I learned that you can get to a place where you can love the skin you're in."
"And I'm excited to share that with the world."
I love how strong, yet vulnerable she appears in these photos. She looks likes she's glowing from the inside out, and she inspires me to not worry about the last five pounds I'm always so focused on feeling like I have to lose.
Demi, you are a fierce, gorgeous, and talented woman! Keep being the fearless leader you are because you have every reason to be confident.
