About a month ago Nickelodeon reported that they were looking into bringing back their older properties for a new generation of kids.
Now Nickelodeon has just told MoviePilot very exclusive news that they are looking into making a crossover series of 90s shows, based on a YouTube series called âÃÂÃÂThe Anytown ShowâÃÂÃÂ, the series depicts characters from shows that aired in the 90s (Rugrats, DexterâÃÂÃÂs Laboratory, Hey Arnold, Johnny Bravo, Recess, The Wild Thornberrys, The Powerpuff Girls, Rocket Power) in a new continuity in Anytown, where they seen to intereact with one another in short 10 second still cartoons and later a music video.
An executive at Nick who remains to be anomynous told MoviePilot âÃÂÃÂWe stumbled upon these videos some time ago and began thinking about it being a real thingâÃÂÃÂ, he later said âÃÂÃÂWe got Arlene, Gabor and Craig in the studio at New York to discuss fresh new ways to bring these characters to a new generationâÃÂÃÂ.
Because of the to the fact that that Recess, DexterâÃÂÃÂs Laboratory, Johnny Bravo and The Powerpuff Girls are owned by Disney and Cartoon Network, the characters that might be used for this series would have to be characters from Nickelodeon shows that could include Rugrats, Hey Arnold, The Wild Thornberrys, Rocket Power and possibly more to come.
Nickelodeon recently announced a new block for 90s shows, so who knows if the block is successful maybe we will be seeing these shows come back in the near future.
