Look at Solas, pretending he's all friendly and wise...For your information fellow gamers, this article will discuss the revelations uncovered in Dragon Age: Inquisition's final DLC pack, Trespasser, as well as what happens at the conclusion of the main campaign. Therefore, if you've yet to play the best sections of Inquisition's narrative - which are actually contained within this DLC pack - continue at your own risk! It's about to get spoilery up in here!
The Events of Dragon Age: Inquisition & its Trespasser DLC!
What is Dragon Age: Inquisition? Is it the final chapter of a trilogy? Is it the beginning of a new saga? Bioware have yet to comment on the future of Dragon Age. But with the ending of Trespasser having put certain events in motion, we can't help but think that there's more on the way for this indelible franchise. Dragon Age 4 may be on the horizon after the release date of [Mass Effect: Andromeda](tag:2683449)!
Let's examine the events of this Game of the Year winner first, though! At the end of Dragon Age: Inquisition, you and your team save the world of Thedas by closing the Breach. We then see a suspicious cutscene involving Solas, and we begin to question his loyalty. After these events, you'll be given a new mission in the DLC pack, Trespasser. This next mission determines the future of The Inquisition itself!
The events of Trespasser reveal to us the true identity of the one that started it all. Two years after the defeat of Corypheus and the closure of the Breach, concerns have grown over the power of the Inquisition. In the eyes of Ferelden, that which once protected the land needs to be disbanded, while the Orlais are of the opinion that it needs even greater power.
To discuss the future of the Inquisition, representatives of Ferelden, Orlais, and the Chantry call an Exalted Council at the Winter Palace. Turmoil develops after an invasive attack from the Qunari and the Inquisitor's mark has begun to act up as you traverse the forbidden paths of the eluvians. And of course, let's not forget the extent of revelations that a return of an old supposed-friend brings with it - Solas.
The game reveals that Solas was in fact the one who initiated everything. EVERYTHING! A man that many of us saw as the wisest and most trust-worthy follower in our Inquisition was the one who brought Ferelden to its knees. Oh, and due to the whole Inquisitor mark thing, it also cost us our arm! GOD DAMN IT, SOLAS!
But what does this mean for the future of the franchise? How will the series pick up from here with Dragon Age 4?
How Does Dragon Age 4 Take It From Here? Is Solas the Antagonist?
After witnessing the events of Trespasser, it seems that Solas is a likely candidate for the antagonist of Dragon Age 4. I only wish that his intriguing tale was included in the actual campaign of Dragon Age: Inquisition. The story felt a bit lacklustre towards the end and it needed a much stronger villain. But Solas fills that position admirably and we'd love to see him return!
Additionally, the game is more than likely going to be taking place around the area of Tevinter. This means lots of Qunari - fine with me! But seeing as Mass Effect: Andromeda is basically giving us the same narrative structure as Mass Effect, perhaps we could see the same with Dragon Age.
Perhaps we'll have to build a force to combat the power of Solace and in order to do this we'll have to pick who we side with in our attempt at victory! In any case, I can't wait to see how this franchise progresses, and if you have any theories on the future of Dragon Age, let us know in the comments!
