This story was absolutely perfect for the time! It was released in 2004, around a period when I was surrounded by people in high school attempting to come into their own and figure out who they are and what they're going to offer up to the world, I was not exempt. Of course it's an exhilarating time for a youngster who finds passion in someone else and when love sparks it takes it to a whole new level of intensity!

The film was directed by Luke Greenfield and written by Stuart Blumberg, David Wagner & Brent Goldberg. The story is about an 18-year old Matthew Kidman, whose a straight-A long term goal student with a vision of being President. His life takes a great 180 degree turn when he encounters "the girl next door." Danielle is somewhat of a drifter who sees something special in Matt, whom has led somewhat of a boring existence all throughout high school, and she wants to help reveal his true identity. It seems she can tell that he wants to break out of his shell and get into a little mischief. They start falling in love with each other, and passion ensues. Eli, Matt's sex-crazed friend, eventually finds out Danielle's secret of actually being an ex-porn star from all the video content he watches. Matt doesn't take it lightly and doesn't know how to handle the situation nor how to treat Danielle after the fact. Danielle's porn producer Kelly arrives on the scene to bring Danielle back to the world she attempted to run away from. Matt has to figure out how to get her back.

Emile Hirsch, Elisha Cuthbert, Timothy Olyphant, Chris Marquette & Paul Dano are among some of the great talent that make up the colorful cast that brought the words from the script to life!

I myself was lucky enough to experience "The Girl Next Door" condition, as far as having a crush on someone goes, this movie hit pretty close to home...minus the porn star bit. Passion certainly does take over though! Anyone who was growing up around the release of this film I'm sure has already seen it, but if you haven't, talking to the older and younger folks, then give this gem a chance.
