It's been 40 years since Saturday Night Live came to existence, bringing us laughter, joy and craziness from its cast members as well as our favorite guest celebrities. Its 41st season have came to a start, and to celebrate the occasion, here, on this list, is the top 20 celebrities who I think should make their first SNL appearance.
1.) Meryl Streep
In all of her success and accolades, Meryl have never been on the show, not even in a seasonal appearance. She has great comedic chops, so I'm sure she'll make an exceptional host. Who wears prosthetic wigs like her? Nobody and they never will! I know she can do it anyway!
2.) Leonardo DiCaprio
Since starting off his acting career as a teenager, Leonardo has spent years appearing in serious film roles in Titanic, Romeo and Juliet, The Departed, Shutter Island and Inception, but all of that came to a change when he starred in 2013's The Wolf of Wall Street, channeling his inner comedian in a successful and charming way. So why not see him do it again as a guest host on SNL? At least, he's already starting to prove that's he's not just a one-trick pony of any film and television genre, even when it comes to improv as well.
3.) 5 Seconds of Summer
5 Seconds of Summer is an emerging pop-rock band from Australia who gained international success with their self-titled debut album and is out and about to be the next AC/DC. Though they already made a name for themselves here in the United States, I think seeing them as musical guest would be a one hell of an experience, though the band's funny side could also work.
Okay, so Queen Bey have been on the show multiple times over the course of her career and was frequently spoofed by Maya Rudolph. She first appeared on SNL back in 2001 in a sketch with Destiny's Child, and then in 2008 as a solo artist, in which she spoofed her famous music video for Single Ladies, with the help of Justin Timberlake. Beyonce didn't appear on the show again since that episode, so hopefully she'll make her first stint as both a host and musical guest in this season in 7 years.
5.) Kim Kardashian
Kim may have frequently impersonated on the show several times, but there is one side of her some of us SNL fans dying to see from her: her funny side, so maybe a guest stint as a host, so maybe she'll pull it off this season.
6.) Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey has been one of the toughest female MMA fighters around now, but now, she has added acting in her resumé when she made her film debut in Furious 7 and a cameo in Entourage: The Movie this year. In a perfect way, this should help put her SNL skills to the test for this season.
7.) Jack McBrayer
Jack McBrayer is just a brilliant actor and comedian of his generation. He has been very good in 30 Rock with Tina Fey, and his voice work Wreck-It Ralph. I think SNL should give him a chance to go for it, though they once rejected him.
8.) Stephen Colbert
Here's one of my favorite comedians in the world right now, Stephen Colbert. Though he was also once rejected by the series, He has been acting his heart out awesomely mixing comedy with politics in Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, but now that he's replacing David Letterman as the host of The Late Show on CBS , all he did is give us more of him, so seeing him as a guest wouldn't be a big deal either.
9.) Becky G
Becky may be an emerging pop star, but she also proved to be more badass as an actress on Empire. This 18 year-old started off as a cookie-cutter teen idol, first making a name for herself on YouTube making music videos, and became much more successful, collaborating with Kesha and producing her first top 10 hit, "Shower". She deserves this type of recognition, and would help jumpstart her to incredible popularity.
10.) Little Mix
Many alumni from The X Factor have came across the series as musical guests, including Leona Lewis and One Direction. But what about Little Mix? As seen in some interviews, they proved to be such goofballs (lol!), but it's their talent that's too undeniable as a girl group since their X Factor victory and they have scored their first successful hit single on Billboard with "Black Magic". Having recently released their next hit " Love Me Like Your" and set to release their album "Get Weird" next month, being a guest music act on the show won't hurt.
11.) Cate Blanchett
Even though Cate was often parodied in the show, she, like Leonardo, has been entertaining us with serious and action roles in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, but showed us how funny she can be also, so come on down to SNL, Cate.
Zendaya Coleman is one magnetic triple threat. She's an amazing actress, singer and dancer, but if you couldn't tell from her starring TV roles in Disney Channel's Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover, she's also a master of making us laugh, so a current Disney star like Zendaya and SNL would be a match made in heaven.
13.) Julia Roberts
Julia has been one of Hollywood's biggest successful and beautiful sirens in the universe, with rom com roles throughout the 1990's and 2000's such as Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, My Best Friend's Wedding and Runaway Bride. Even when taking more comedic roles in the last decade, with or without commercial success, we should see what's it's like for her to counteract live.
14.) Denzel Washington
In all of his career, Denzel has settled into roles seemingly similar to one another. With Jay Pharoah's impersonation of the Oscar-winning actor, it could put him into the light that we've never seen him in like never before.
15.) Fifth Harmony
Here's another alumni from The X Factor, Fifth Harmony. The five piece music group, consisting of Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke Hernandez, Normani Kordei Hamilton, Dinah-Jane Hansen and Lauren Jauregui, are on a mission to gain success overseas. With four platinum singles and a successful debut album under their belt, they have been frequently performing on NBC's Today Show, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and iHeart Radio Music Awards, so a musical guest stint and really goofy but comedic cameo on the series would make an excellent milestone for them.
16.) Will Smith
Will Smith has slowed down over the past few years, yet he made us laugh whether intentionally or unintentionally, this should help him revitalize his comedy career.
17.) Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez has the perfect acting chops, perfect voice, perfect inner funny girl. It has been confirmed that she'll be hosting it this season, but I'm just expecting more of her as a singing guest too.
18.) Demi Lovato
Demi has talent so brilliant and undeniable it sometimes hurts. Having been confirmed as a guest music act on the show, she should also be making us laugh with a blast.
19.) Bella Thorne
Bella Thorne is an incredible actress. She's also a killer dancer and a fantastic singer, so she should come to the show do us triple threat that would be super divine.
20.) Gal Gadot
Gal Gadot, who first started off in the Miss Universe pageant in her late teens, knows how to strut her stuff even with her role as Gisele Yashar in The Fast and The Furious movies. She may also will take part as Wonder Woman in the DC Cinematic Universe, but what I didn't know about her is she is one funny woman when she starred with Tina Fey in Date Night and with in a rom com with Isla Fisher, so a spot here should be open for her.
