Have you ever found yourself watching a movie and thinking "Man, this movie would be so much better if this actor was the lead?" Well, you may have been close to how the movie could have been!
1. The Breakfast Club
Nicolas Cage, Robert Downey Jr, and Johnny Depp were originally considered for the role of John Bender, but the production couldn't afford their salaries at the time. Then, John Cusack was eventually cast as Bender, but John Hughes decided to replace him with Judd Nelson before shooting began.
2. Jurassic Park
All three main roles in Jurassic Park were almost completely different!
1.Ellie Sattler was auditioned for by Sandra Bullock, Gwyneth Paltrow, Helen Hunt, and Julianne Moore. It was eventually given to Laura Dern.
2. Jim Carrey was offered the role of Ian Malcolm. Carrey denied because he was busy with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
3. Harrison Ford was offered and turned down the role of Dr. Alan Grant, as he felt that the part just wasn't right for him. After seeing the film, he says that he had made the right decision.
3. The Avengers (And other Marvel movies)
Before Jeremy Renner was asked to reprise his role as Hawkeye, Supernatural's Jensen Ackles was set to take on the role of the bow-wielding S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, but before shooting began Ackles had to back out of the movie due to scheduling issues.
4. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Nicolas Cage, Brad Pitt, Mike Myers, Ben Stiller, Bill Murray, Patrick Stewart, Robert De Niro and Michael Keaton were some of the many considered for the role of Willy Wonka, but Marilyn Manson was badly wanted for the part. Manson even considered taking the part, but as we all know, it was his good friend Johnny Depp who ended up getting the role. Depp stated that he used Marilyn Manson as part of his inspiration when playing the part.
5. X-Men (And other X-Men movies)
Bryan Singer wanted Wolverine to be played by Russell Crowe, but he turned it down. Multiple actors were considered for the role, Aaron Eckhart, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Viggo Mortensen, Edward Norton, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are just a few. Fox wanted Keanu Reeves or Gary Sinise. Dougray Scott was cast, but he later dropped out due to the fact that he was filming Mission: Impossible II. Finally, Russell Crowe suggested Hugh Jackman to Singer. Hugh Jackman was cast three weeks into filming.
