After seeing GTA V redefine the open-world genre, you can't help but wonder what the franchise will do next. We all know that GTA 6 isn't going to be around for another 4 years at least! Therefore, with Rockstar having not released a single new game since 2013, we can be sure that there are plenty of other titles in the works. But what can we expect to see?
Perhaps Rockstar are finally working on that PS3 exclusive (now presumed PS4 exclusive), Agent! Or there's a new IP on the way like we saw with [L.A. Noir](tag:865020). In any case, seeing as GTA 6 won't be around for a while, let's take a look at the Rockstar sequels we'd love to play in 2016!
Forget GTA 6, These Are The Sequel Release Dates You Really Need!
Since 1998, Rockstar have been making some of the most sought after games in the industry. Their titles have continuously permeated the social zeitgeist, to the extent where people who've never played a game before have heard of Grand Theft Auto and its controversies. Rockstar are never that far away from offending someone with their material and we wonder whether this sequel would actually be made in this day and age.
Manhunt is a game that is still banned in countries around the world - such as the country I live in, Germany! Therefore, we wonder whether the same thing would occur if Manhunt 3 was to depict violence as gruesomely as its predecessors. With such exceptional graphics on the XBOX One and PS4, the image above might be too much for a lot of people.
But the Manhunt games weren't just grotesquely violent, they were actually a lot of fun to play! They had engaging story-lines, and the stealth gameplay was pretty fantastic. We'd love to see how Rockstar would handle the release of Manhunt 3 in 2016. Thoughts?
Max Payne 4
For some reason, the allure of another Max Payne game is still so strong. Max Payne 3 is one of those games I just can't see myself giving away. With its engaging narrative, great acting, a tight script, and some superb bullet-time gameplay, any new instalment in this franchise would be welcomed by troves of fans! But should it take the place of these other sequels?
This is probably the strangest game that Rockstar have ever released. I recall playing it in 2006 and not being entirely sure why it had been developed. That being said, Bully is still a fantastic game, one that demonstrated Rockstar's ability to blend Western game design with that of Japan. You can attend school, flirt with girls, and cause some ruckus with your mates on your bicycle.
Bully 2 would be a strange game to see in 2016, but I think that Rockstar can kind of make everything work. If they can replicate this setting with an equally engaging narrative and tons of interesting characters, I'd be up for Bully 2!
We don't even need to discuss the one above. After all, with Rockstar having recently sent out an invite for people to apply for jobs in their various offices, an open-world game is on the horizon. What else can it be other than Red Dead Redemption 2?!
Let us know which sequel you'd like to see Rockstar give a release date next!
