Covering the November issue of monthly glossy magazine Vanity Fair, Rihanna looks totally smokin' sporting a voluminous scarlet mane and turquoise body suit complete with plunging neckline. As gorgeous and successful as she undoubtably is, the interview certainly isn't all rainbows and unicorns. In this issue, the internationally renowned singer opens up about her relationship with Chris Brown.
Asked how she feels about being the "poster child" for domestic abuse, Rihanna explained she felt repeatedly punished by the media following the attack from then boyfriend Chris Brown back in 2009 which left her face covered in bruises.
Reliving a memory which is undoubtably painful for the star, Rihanna bravely revealed that she had hoped she could "change" Brown. Here's an excerpt from the tell-all interview:
"I was very protective of him. I felt that people didn’t understand him. Even after… But you know, you realise after a while that in that situation you’re the enemy.
You want the best for them, but if you remind them of their failures, or if you remind them of bad moments in their life, or even if you say I’m willing to put up with something, they think less of you - because they know you don’t deserve what they’re going to give.
And if you put up with it, maybe you are agreeing that you [deserve] this, and that’s when I finally had to say, ‘Uh-oh, I was stupid thinking I was built for this.’ Sometimes you just have to walk away."
Adding that although Chris will remain dear to her for the rest of her life, the two no longer communicate.
According to British publication The Mirror, the 'Umbrella' star is now dating Travis Scott, though this is yet to be confirmed.
