This year was to be a remarkable one for Nintendo fans. We were to receive the release date of The Legend of Zelda Wii U as well as Star Fox Zero, two of Nintendo's most adored universes. Sadly, neither of these came to pass and the world was distraught and moved by the loss of a truly wonderful man, Satoru Iwata. The industry will never be the same with out him.
Now that Nintendo have appointed their new CEO, Tatsumi Kimishima, they're looking at 2016 as a year of growth and huge developments. They'll be making massive advances with mobile games and we're also due to receive the release date of the mythical, NX. But a new console needs some seriously good games on its launch if it wants to succeed.
Star Fox Zero & The Legend of Zelda No Longer On the Wii U?
After the huge disappointment and failure on Nintendo's part to effectively promote the Wii U, the company will want to ensure that these detrimental mistakes aren't repeated. With the launch of the NX in 2016, Nintendo will most likely be planning to wow the world with the innovations that their new console will display. But imagine the success that they could predict if the NX had two of Nintendo's greatest franchises attached to it on release date.
Zelda Wii U and Star Fox Zero were thought to be released this year, however, both have been pushed to an unknown date next year. That being said, Star Fox Zero is due to arrive in the first-quarter of 2016. Releasing a console that early would be an awful move for Nintendo, and perhaps Star Fox isn't going anywhere near the NX. But what about The Legend of Zelda?
With the support that this franchise has enjoyed for decades, fans would flock to a new console if The Legend of Zelda was to release as an exclusive for Nintendo's NX - I certainly would! It would be such a clever and profitable move from a company that has lost a lot of the revenue it once enjoyed.
What Will the NX Be Like On Release Date?
The Wii was a remarkable accomplishment and they've made so much from the Nintendo 3DS. But they need something new to captivate modern audiences. If the NX doesn't have something so irresistibly unique, you wonder how things will go under the guidance of Tatsumi Kimishima. He holds the future of the company's success in his hands, and The Legend of Zelda is his strongest card.
Star Fox Zero may well be a Wii U title and nothing will change. But if you look at things objectively, it would make so much sense to delay them both to 2016 for the release of the NX, or at least Zelda. A lot of us wouldn't be happy with the move, but it'd be a clever one nonetheless.
So where do you stand Nintendo fans? Do you think that The Legend of Zelda Wii U could arrive on the NX? Would it make sense to release, or perhaps re-release Star Fox Zero on the new console too? If so, let us know in the comments!
