With Ant-Man, Phase 2 has officially come to an end, with Phase 3 kicking off next year with Captain America: Civil War. If it’s anything like the comic books it’s based on, that movie is going to dramatically alter the foundations of this world, setting the stage for everything which follows between next May and the release of the two-part Avengers: Infinity War.
With sequels, the introduction of several new heroes, and the historic deal which is going to see Spider-Man arrive in the MCU, Phase 3 is looking pretty hectic. It’s also looking pretty damn exciting for us fans, and there’s an awful lot of information out there pertaining to what’s on the way from Marvel over the next few years.
Don’t let the “Part 1” and “Part 2” subtitles fool you. While these two Avengers: Infinity War movies are sure to be connected, it doesn’t sound as if they’re going to be as closely tied as most of us have so far assumed. In fact, Kevin Feige has revealed that,
“[The] intention of that is to do two distinct, standalone movies as we do all the time. But because they are such shared elements, it felt appropriate to do [two-parts]. I wouldn’t call it one story that’s cut in half. I would say it’s gonna be two distinct movies.”
That’s an interesting approach, and MARVEL as always will deliver something spectacular in the upcoming movies.
