The Cap quote that hit me like a vibranium brick!
The Cap quote that hit me like a vibranium brick!

For as long as I can remember, super heroes have influenced the life choices I make, encouraged me to do what I love full-heartedly, and to be true to myself and stand by my ideals and values. No hero has done that for me more than Captain America! To me he's so much more than the Super Soldier who dons the red, white and blue Star Spangled suit, he's the ideal human being. He's everything I strive to be as a person. He never stops fighting the good fight, he always stands by his ideals firmly and in the face of those who oppose, a heart of gold and a spirit that can't be broken!

And so, since early this year, I have entered the amazing world of Cosplay! After discovering what it is and what it's all about, I knew this would the perfect outlet for my passion of super heroes. It began when the hype for Age of Ultron was in bloom. Once I caught a glimpse of Cap's new suit, I was in love and knew exactly what I wanted to cosplay first! And as a beginning cosplayer with little knowledge of costume or prop making, I went with purchasing the suit online and had it custom fit and the feeling I got from wearing the suit was unbelievably surreal! I knew then and there this was gonna be my all time favorite hobby! So in the aftermath of Age of Ultron, then came the set photos of Captain America: Civil War and when I caught a glimpse of THAT suit, I thought this will be perfect to work on my crafting skills by tweaking my original suit to resemble the Civil War suit. And the finished product was satisfying for my first time!

Before and After!
Before and After!

The first picture was early in March when I first acquired the suit and the latter, was just a week ago! Basically, what I did to the costume was paint the white biceps a dark blue to match the suits natural color with fabric paint, I removed the red accents on the chest as well as paint over the red accents by the abdomen and shoulder area. As for the shoulders, I added a little padding for that extra umph that I strive for!

The boots covers were a great outcome for me! I repainted them all black and added the brown fasteners from the Winter Soldier Stealth Suit boots and voila! The boots I acquired from Big 5 Sporting goods for about $30 and they're comfy for both cosplay and casual wear!

The helmet is indubitably my favorite addition to my cosplay! For one thing, it's a beautiful piece of work crafted by a damn good prop maker! It feels like it's right off the movie set from the look of authenticity with it's accents and battle damage and it just complements the suit with the utmost badassery!

And so brings the finished product! My only complaint is that I'm still a Con virgin haha! But that streak ends at Stan Lee's Comikaze October 30th - November 1st and I couldn't be more nervocited (Nervous+Excited)!! Any who, thanks to all who took the time to read this! It's not much, it's a start! Hope to bring many more for ya'll and if you'd like to tag along on my beginning cosplay adventure, find me on instagram and facebook! Thank you guys!
