With the DCEU on its way, the focus has mainly been on [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870) and Suicide Squad and not too much about Wonder Woman. While, yes, Wonder Woman will be appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, not much has been said about the standalone film. A while back there was a rumor circulating around that Wonder Woman would take place in two separate time periods, one being WWI. Now, however, we have another rumor that not only confirms the previous one but gives yet another time period that will be featured in the film!

When will Wonder Woman take place?

Den of Geeks claims that they have the inside scoop this time and that there will be three separate time periods throughout the film:

The first setting will be Themyscira, the idyllic island Wonder Woman has called home since her adventures began in the 1940s. The second period is World War I - the specific year we've been given is 1916, which places it right in the middle of that conflict. The movie will then move to the modern day, where it will tie into the events of Justice League Part One, out at the end of 2017 and also set to star Gadot's Wonder Woman.

So, what does this all mean for the plot of the film? With three separate time periods throughout the movie, it seems that it may be difficult to juggle all of the plot elements.

Are we getting a Wonder Woman origin story?

According to the report, the film will begin in Wonder Woman's homeland of Themyscira. The land hidden within the Amazon is one of the most beautiful places in the world and where Wonder Woman got her start.

If this is true, then all signs lead towards a complete origin story of Wonder Woman, which would be great! But how does WWI tie into things?

Wonder Woman in WWI?

We all know that Wonder Woman is a goddess, essentially, and therefore is basically ageless. It is no surprise that she was around during WWI, but how would she play into the timeline? My guess is that that is when she will really begin to become THE Wonder Woman, as she will probably face her first big baddie. There have been rumors that Wonder Woman has been around for a while by the time that BvS takes place, so this could definitely have some truth behind it.

Whenever it takes place, Wonder Woman will be awesome!

I am extremely excited to see Wonder Woman on the big screen as she is one of my favorite comic book characters, male or female, of all time! She is a true goddess and there are very few that can stand in her way and stop her. Hopefully DC is able to juggle all of the story lines and seamlessly integrate jumping from time periods. There is no doubt in my mind that it will work out and Wonder Woman may be one of the surprise hits!

Do you think three time periods will work for Wonder Woman?
