I've read the book, I've seen the movie, and now I'm going to talk about it.

November will mark the ten-year U.S. release of 2005's Pride & Prejudice, an adaptation of the classic 1813 novel by Jane Austen. While not completely faithful to the book, director Joe Wright's vision was still well-received due to its music, stunning cinematography, and stellar cast. Everyone remembers Keira Knightley as Lizzie Bennet, the "prejudice" to Mr. Darcy's "pride" - but you might be surprised to learn who else was in the cast, and what they are up to now!

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bennet - Keira Knightley

Age then: 20 Now: 30

Keira Knightley was already pretty famous by the time she appeared in the film due to her role as Elizabeth Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. She went on to star in Atonement and Anna Karenina (also directed by Joe Wright). While her presence in summer blockbusters has lagged, she was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in 2014's The Imitation Game, and appeared in this year's Everest.

Fun fact: She dated P&P co-star Rupert Friend, who played the dastardly and dashing Mr. Wickham, from 2005 to 2010.

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy - Matthew Macfadyen

Age then: 30 Now: 40

P&P was Matthew Macfadyen's first big role, and he also went on to appear in Anna Karenina with Keira Knightly. While his film roles have been few - Frost/Nixon (2008), Robin Hood (2010), and The Three Musketeers (2011) - he is currently starring on BBC's Ripper Street, set in Victorian England.

Fun fact: He had not read Pride and Prejudice prior to appearing in the film.

Jane Bennet - Rosamund Pike

Age then: 26 Now: 36

Rosamund Pike's big break came when she played Bond girl Miranda Frost in 2002's Die Another Day, and she has kept rising in stardom ever since. Since P&P, she appeared in Jack Reacher (2012) opposite Tom Cruise, The World's End (2013) with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and was nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA for her role in 2014's Gone Girl.

Fun fact: Rosamund Pike not only dated Simon Woods, who played her in-film lover Mr. Bingley, but was also at one point engaged to the director, Joe Wright.

Catherine Bennet - Carey Mulligan

Age then: 20 Now: 30

P&P was Carey Mulligan's first film role, and she has grown in fame since then, thanks to her part in the Doctor Who episode "Blink" and the film An Education (which also featured Rosamund Pike). She also starred opposite Keira Knightley in the beautiful Never Let Me Go. She played Daisy Buchanan alongside Leonardo Di Caprio in 2013's The Great Gatsby, and has a lead in the upcoming film Suffragette.

Fun fact: She is married to Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons - they were once childhood pen pals. He provided some of the music to her film Inside Llewyn Davis.

Lydia Bennet - Jena Malone

Age then: 20 Now: 30

Jena Malone's film debut was 1996's Bastard Out of Carolina, which came out when she was only 12. She was also in Donnie Darko before P&P, and went on to appear in films like Into the Wild (2007) and Sucker Punch (2011) before joining the Hunger Games franchise as Johanna Mason. She will also appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Fun fact: Donald Sutherland, who plays her father in P&P, plays the hated President Snow in the Hunger Games films.

Talulah Riley - Mary Bennet

Age then: 20 Now: 30

Like Carey Mulligan, P&P was Talulah Riley's first feature film. Her work is not very well known in the U.S., but she did appear in two films in the St. Trinian's series, and made small appearances in Inception (2010) and Thor: The Dark World (2013), along with Doctor Who.

Fun fact: She is married to billionaire Elon Musk, who co-founded such companies as PayPal and Tesla Motors.

Mr. Bennet - Donald Sutherland

Age then: 70 Now: 80

Donald Sutherland had been acting for over 40 years by the time he appeared in P&P. His film credits include The Dirty Dozen (1967), M*A*S*H (1970), National Lampoon's Animal House (1978), and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). Since P&P, his most publicized role has been playing sadistic dictator President Snow in The Hunger Games films. He will also appear in American Horror Story: Hotel.

Fun fact: He is father to Kiefer Sutherland, who is best known for his role as Jack Bauer in the TV show 24.

Mrs. Bennet - Brenda Blethyn

Age then: 59 Now: 69

Best known for the 1996 film Secrets & Lies, Brenda Blethyn also appeared in Saving Grace (2000) and the TV movie Anne Frank: The Whole Story before P&P. She later acted in Atonement and Mary and Martha, a television film also starring Hillary Swank.

Fun fact: While not a household name, Brenda Blethyn has actually been nominated for two Academy Awards for her performances in Secrets & Lies (1996) and Little Voice (1998).

Lady Catherine de Bourgh - Judi Dench

Age then: 70 Now: 80

Like Donald Sutherland, Judi Dench was a film legend before gracing the screen in P&P. In addition to showing up in many Shakespeare film adaptations, she played M, the head of MI6, in seven James Bond films: from GoldenEye (1995) to Skyfall (2012). She has also been nominated for seven Academy Awards (winning in 1998 for Shakespeare in Love), most recently for 2013's Philomena.

Fun fact: Judi Dench is more properly known as Dame Judi Dench after being appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1988.

Mr. Charles Bingley - Simon Woods

Age then: 25 Now: 35

After P&P, Simon Woods appeared in the film Penelope with Christina Ricci and James McAvoy, and television shows Cranford and Rome.

Fun fact: Simon Woods retired from acting in 2008, and married Christopher Bailey in 2012.

Caroline Bingley - Kelly Reilly

Age then: 28 Now: 38

Kelly Reilly has acted steadily since P&P, but is probably best known for her role as Mary Morstan in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, and later, Mary Watson in the film's sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. She is currently playing Jordan Semyon in the second season of True Detective.

Fun fact: At age 26, she became the youngest person nominated for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actress for her role in After Miss Julie.

Director - Joe Wright

Age then: 33 Now: 43

Since P&P, Joe Wright has directed Atonement (2007), The Soloist (2009), Hanna (2011), and Anna Karenina (2012). He is also the director of the movie Pan, a retelling of Peter Pan, which stars Hugh Jackman as the villainous Blackbeard.

Fun fact: Joe Wright, like many directors, tends to reuse select actors, actresses, and crew members in his films, including Keira Knightly, Jena Malone, Tom Hollander, and Saoirse Ronan.

Pride & Prejudice is a movie that many people hold close to their hearts, and it is wonderful to see that the actors and actresses have been doing well for themselves since then.
