If you saw Ant-Man, you probably knew to stay in your seats for the post-credits scene that featured a hint at a sequel. Well today, you should be happy that you did, because we now have confirmation from Marvel that Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will now include Ant-Man and The Wasp. It's set to hit theaters July 6, 2018.

This is major vindication for The Wasp (who will be played by Evangeline Lilly), since she was originally one of the founding members of The Avengers, but didn't get included in the MCU originally. She'll be given the spotlight in the second Ant-Man film, hopefully with some other appearances in MCU products.

I thought Paul Rudd (Scott Lang) did an excellent job alongside Michael Douglas (Hank Pym) and the aforementioned Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne) in the first film. The announcement of Ant-Man and The Wasp follows the success of Ant-Man, which has earned $178.5M domestically and $231.5M internationally for a global total of $410M. It's the #9 film of the year domestically, and opens in its final international market, China, on October 16.
