Ever since New Line Cinema announced back in August that there would be yet another reboot to the film Nightmare on Elm Street- the film that boosted coffee sales for kids and teens throughout the decade Since then, there has been a lot of talk/rumors/speculation going around about whether or not the film needs another reboot. Not to mention, who would play the man with the claw, Fred Krueger.

Still no word as to who will be playing the part, but no one can replace Robert Englund. Those will be quite the shoes, or rather claws, to fill. Englund brought nightmares with a little comedic relief in between murders so that just when you thought everything was alright, that teeth grinding screech blasts through your audio as he scrapes his claw across the boiler, that's when you know things are about to get real.

Englund progressed as Freddy Krueger through 7 films (8 if you include Freddy vs. Jason) and set the bar higher with each performance. My favorite of course being part 3 (Dream Warriors) because to me, the murders got more intense.

Sadly, Englund will not return as Freddy in the reboot, confirmed by the man himself via Twitter. Which is devastating news to fans of the franchise. Although most people disagree with the reboot, I for one am excited to see what New Line Cinema and David Leslie Johnson have in store for us! Johnson will be writing the script- for those of you not familiar with him, he also wrote the 2009 horror film The Orphan, so this should prove interesting. Still no Director on board yet and though no one could ever replace the evil mastermind Wes Craven (may he rest in peace) I'd love it James Wan (Director of The Conjuring, Insidious, etc.) would take on this one. I think it's right up his alley. Either way the special effects have enhanced quite a bit even since the last reboot so I'm anxious to see where they take the film.

I agree entirely Freddy.

It's kind of a lot to take in, isn't it? Possibly overwhelming, considering this is a great year for horror fans, what with all the other remakes and new films being released! Are you ready for another Freddy? Are you for or against another reboot and why? Until next time, Sweet Dreams everyone...
