Ever since the announcement was dropped at E3 2013, all gamers have had their eyes on [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021). Now the moment has come for old and new players to grab their console of preference and gear up for the Star Wars: Battlefront Beta! For those wary Stormtroopers and frightened Rebels who don't know what they are getting into, have no fear! Here's everything you need to know to about the three game modes offered to us in the beta!

1. Co-Op Survival on Tatooine

It's a trap!
It's a trap!

The Co-Op Survival mode on Tatooine is something that is quite new to the series. You and a friend play as two lone Rebels up against six waves of Imperial Stormtroopers and AT-ST walkers (those are the vehicles that look like chickens). Now, I know that might seem like a lot for two Rebel scum to take on, but don't you worry! Admiral Ackbar has got you covered! During the game, he will see that you and your friend get all the firepower you need via pods that drop to the surface of the planet. Armed with Thermal Detonators and the Ion Shot, you and a friend can fight back the Empire and make Admiral Ackbar proud!

2. Drop Zone on Sullust

Careful! The floor is lava!
Careful! The floor is lava!

Another new game mode, Drop Zone sees players dropped onto Sullust in order to fight over...drop pods? That seems a little weird. But I guess when they give you such great weapons, what do we have to lose? Drop Zone plays out a lot like a 'Zone Control' style game mode. Players from both the Rebels and Empire rush around the map to try and capture as many drop pods as possible. Their locations are always randomised, meaning that players will constantly be on their toes. With feet on the ground and starfighters in the air, this will lead to an intense battle!

3. Walker Assault on Hoth

Hiiiiii, Vader...I'm dead.
Hiiiiii, Vader...I'm dead.

Now here's something that us old players know and love - but with some minor changes! Walker Assault on Hoth leads players back to the cold, barren ice planet to duke it out with blasters, vehicles and starfighters. The main objective of the game mode is for the Rebels to hold as many uplink points as possible, which will grant power-ups, in order for them to take down those nasty AT-AT walkers. On the Empire's side, they just have to do what they do best - kill all Rebel scum. Hoth is the largest map on the Star Wars: Battlefront Beta, which can lead to huge and epic battles. But when you hear that iconic Star Wars theme music, you better look out! Because either Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader has just joined the fight! Good luck out there. You're gonna need it!

Well Rebels and Stormtroopers, I hope you enjoyed learning about the fantastic new game modes in the Star Wars: Battlefront Beta. If you wish to get your hands on the beta now, you can by downloading it here for PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC (via Origin)! Keep your finger on that blaster trigger, and I'll see you on the battlefront!
